Just died and gone to heaven! Jools Holland played a few piano bars of The Tracks Of My Tears and Smokey sung! Randy Crawford and Joe Sample are currently performing. Can life get any better than this?!

Yes, I 've got it on as well. By far the best music program on the TV. :celb (23):

I'm wetting myself. A rare moment of musical history! Remember when the New York Dolls played on the Old Grey Whistle Test? It's as good as that!:PDT_Aliboronz_24:

First time I've heard them but I was impressed. Just going to have a bit more of a look at their website.

Howie,
Had a good listen to The View tracks on Myspace and I'm still dancing around my handbag. Cheers.

BTW, just noticed they're doing The Academy with Primal Scream on the 21st Nov.

I saw Stevie Wonder and The Marvelettes at the Empire in the early 70s. I can remember that it was an Easter Monday, because we'd just got back from Old Trafford after beating Scum 3-0! It was also Phil Thompson's debut when he came on as a sub. Oh happy days!:celb (23):

BTW Stevie Wonder's "We Can Work It Out" has to be the only Beatles song I've heard that is actually better than the original.:PDT_Piratz_26:

I saw Stevie Wonder on the Empire too - it must have been the 70s. I can't recall who else was on the show .. it could have been the Marvelettes.

... but then again - it could have been Martha Reeves & The Vandellas.

Not sure now.

Stevie Wonder was wearing a gaudy coloured suit (it was either blue or green) with huge lapels !! :)

I also saw the Temptations on the Empire ... OMG! I couldn't believe I was seeing them. ha,ha.
I'd loved their music for so many years.

I saw the Jackson 5 on the Empire in 1972. I paid £1.75 for a ticket 3 rows from the front. When they came on the crowd surged to the front, climbing over the seats, standing on my head!! I ended up at the back!! Where's the justice in that, eh? Anyhoo - Michael split his trousers right up the front in a bout of over-enthusiastic dancing. He had to tie one of those satin scarves around so it was not visible (and this was when he was normal).

It was a great concert though.:celb (6):

Ha,ha, what a sight that must have been :D

can't think why I missed that concert ..... I must have been skint at the time or something !

I remember James Brown was coming to the Empire (1970s) - if I'm not mistaken it was his first visit to L'pool ... we were all excited at the prospect and queued up for hours to get tickets ....... next thing was the show was cancelled

I saw Arthur Conolly and on another occassion Edwin Starr... and both times I was nearly trampled in the crush ! :D
