Now

in its fourth year, Liverpool Music Week has grown from a single venue project into a burgeoning new UK music event. This year there are almost 200 acts

playing 39 shows across 16 of Liverpool’s music venues, with an anticipated record crowd of 26,000 music lovers, incorporating extra venues such as the

Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool University and the Carling Academy.

The majority of the

festival is dominated by a diverse local music scene, with many home-grown headliners such as Hot Club De Paris and 747s, Tramp Attack, and 28

Costumes.

Headliners include Shack, Liam Frost & the Slowdown Family, Son of Dave, The Longcut, Bromheads Jacket and ex-Beta Band – The Aliens, as

I reckon this has the potential to be big maybe not as big as the Mathew Street festival watch this festival grow year on year from here,it's

going to spread and become massive I'm positive and if you haven't heard of it before you will.

Great make the most of it,in the Echo yesterday it mentioned a local rock metal band called Metro Manila Aide who are playing a few gigs during the music week but their myspace link wont load up for me so I can't tell you what they're like.:disgust:

Metro Manila Aide are fantastic. Played on the bill with them at the Bumper a while back and they were cool as a two guitar duo - saw them finally last week at the Bar Fresa as a full band and was blown away. They're somewhat drone/stoner with hints of prog and lots of talent but really I wouldn't like to categorise them. I think they've got potential to be big.

A bit of useless info, but a Metro Manila Aide was the equivelent (spell check alert!) of a local Liverpool council worker who cleaned the Manila streets. Don't see them anymore, but they were all over the place in the 80s.
Fascinating heh?! LOL!
