'Rainforest' attraction planned (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/6033635.stm)

An environmental leisure group is planning to develop a rainforest-themed attraction in the North West.

Represtentatives from Rainforest Ventures Ltd are visiting Blackpool and Liverpool to find a suitable location for their planned £75m development.

Blackpool Council invited applications from groups interested in developing a leisure attraction in the resort.

Studio Daniel Libeskind, the architects behind the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester, are working with the group.

Rainforest Ventures are also looking at other venues in the North of England.

Frank Field has come up with a plan to save the rainforests - we're all going to buy them, (see here (http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/liverpooldailypost/news/regionalnews/tm_method=full%26objectid=17896068%26siteid=50061-name_page.html)).

Rainforest Ventures do not appear to have a website and I can't find much about them other than that they are an 'ecotourism' company based in Florida, USA.

Rainforest in Liverpool???? Sounds like the start of another 'Scam' to me!
It would need a tropical (or semi-tropical) climate at least! Watch out for requests for donations to"Save the Rainforests'!!!:Colorz_Grey_PDT_24:

It's just been on the news again and they reckon it'll be similar to the Eden

Project, they are now looking at Liverpool,Blackpool and Manchester. They never mentioned them last time so it'll probably end up there.

Firm unveils

£75m rainforest plan

A leisure group's plans to create an indoor tropical rainforest in the North West of England have been

unveiled.

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/42217000/jpg/_42217730_rainforest203.jpg
The hotel will offer views of

a
rainforest under cover

Rainforest Ventures Ltd (RVL) is looking at possible sites in Blackpool, Liverpool and Greater Manchester for its

£75m scheme.

It is hoped the forest, which will be housed in a fully energy efficient building, can emulate the success of the Eden Project in

Cornwall.

The project would be paid for with a mixture of public and private money.

The building will also include a commercial hotel, which

will look out into the tropical

environment.

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/42217000/jpg/_42217694_rainforest_plan203.jpg
Plans are still at an early

stage

Although the group is taking inspiration from the success of Eden, spokesman Robin Lock it was a very different concept.

"Eden

was very exciting and I've always said there will never be another Eden - and this is not another Eden," he said.

"This is different. It's in an

urban setting. Its green space and a hotel."

Studio Daniel Libeskind, the architects behind the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester, is working

with RVL on the project.

Spokesman Stefan Blach said: "The greenhouse combined with the hotel looking into it, I think, is something which has never

been done and that requires a totally new architectural response."

RVL believes the rainforest could attract up to one million visitors every

year.

On the

Festival Gardens (http://www.yoliverpool.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2192&highlight=garden+festival) site? The hotel boom in Liverpool could

continue with a project like this. Although I'm inclined to agree with Paul, Manchester bound I feel.

Plans for a giant indoor rainforest in Blackpool are being drawn up by the architect who won the competition to replace the twin towers in New York.
Studio Daniel Libeskind, the architects behind the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester, is working with Rainforest Ventures Ltd (RVL) on the £75m project.

Sites in Greater Manchester and Liverpool are also being considered, but Blackpool is said to be favoured.

£75m rainforest for garden festival site?

LIVERPOOL'S derelict garden festival site at Otterspool is being lined up for a £75m slice of Amazonian rainforest.

The tourist attraction, similar to Cornwall's Eden Project, was earmarked for Blackpool, but the city has emerged as a popular alternative.

The proposal's backers, Rainforest Ventures Ltd, were today being given a guided tour of the 82-acre site.

I feel theres been some compromise between the 'pools.

This 'Rainforest attraction' is primarily a hotel, does B/pool need yet another hotel ? ... Has it the land to spare for such a developement ?

Nah!!.. I think B/pool and Liverpool have come to the conclusion that the 'rainforest attraction' is better suited to Liverpool, and by golly it even has the tropical medicines to treat any poison spider bites :D

I think Blackpool will be hoping Liverpool will then support their bid for the regions mega-casino, which Manchester also happens to want.

its just a made up story... there is no plan at all to put this on The Garden Festival Site. None. That's all I'm prepared to say.

This is what Bammy had to say about this on SSC and the lads in the know,is this another case of the Echo building up peoples hopes only for it to be added to the long list of failed projects? no wonder people in this city are so pessimistic.:disgust:
