View Full Version : Me in the Great North Run
Blabber 10-05-2006, 07:07 PM This was taken at the very end of the 13.2 miles as I was about to cross the finish line. I was ****ed. Especially as I'd ran the last mile very quickly. I raised £200 for charity and completed it in 2hours. My personal best from the leeds half marathon is 1:43:00 (7.8 minute miles), but considering about 8 times more people run the Great Northy it is difficult to accelerate. In the last mile I was elbowing people out of way and taking over folk like a nutter.
I wish Liveprool had a big event like this. The people up there are great. They line the streets cheering people on. It really lifets a runner's spirits. Plus there are all kinds of bands playing along the way. At one point some blokes were handing ale out to runner LOL!!!

I'm aiming to do the next Leeds run in 90 mins! :celb (23):
Blabber 10-05-2006, 07:08 PM Incidentally, I was running quickly there. I don't have half a leg on one side. Touch wood.

Liverpool has the Nike International Half Marathon every year which I did a few years ago. Excellent pic Blabber. I was snapped running the Santa Dash 05 last year. Check out the gallery here (http://www.santa-dash.com/?page_id=4).

Blabber 10-05-2006, 07:21 PM LOL,
Nice pic Kev. I didn't know the Pool had a race. As I'm still in fitness I might see if I can enter for the next one. So it's around Xmas I take it?
What's the route? Oh hang on. I'll check.

The santa dash run is great. Quite bizzare seeing thousands of santas in town. I'm doing it. If u run it, give us a shout and we'll meet up. I'm going for a win this year, sod the fun aspect :Colorz_Grey_PDT_16:

As for blabs, WTF happened to the crocodile shoes??? :Colorz_Grey_PDT_16:
Respect for the physically fit here. I only ever run like that at last orders. :)
Blabber 10-05-2006, 08:34 PM Alright Bunny.
The last time I ran in my crocodile shoes I ended up going for a burton and grazing my elbow. So I keep them for walking :)

Congrats on the GNR!
Was reading an article in some local running mag down the gym tonight which was debating whether Liverpool should have a marathon in 2008. I'd love to do one here...
