http://blog.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/graphics/jm_2010.jpgThe John Moores Contemporary Painting Prize now open to entries.

Any artists considering entering the John Moores Contemporary Painting Prize (http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/walker/johnmoores/jm2010/) would do well to get inside the head of a previous judge. Matthew Collings (http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/walker/johnmoores/22/jury_collings.html), who hosted What is Beauty? (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00p05ww) last Saturday evening, was on the panel for John Moores 22 (http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/walker/johnmoores/22/index.html) in 2002 when the artist Peter Davies (http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/walker/collections/20c/davies.aspx) won.

In the programme Collings lists his top 10 favourite ?beauty experiences? in art. From an amazing bridge designed by Sir Norman Foster to pre-historic cave art, his perception of beauty is really interesting and varied. Definitely worth a watch on iplayer (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00p05ww/What_Is_Beauty/).
