View Full Version : Don't mention London on the Weather Forcasts or Liverpool
A forecaster finally admitted yesterday that they daren?t mention the capital for fear of getting a deluge of complaints about being London-centric.
I've always felt that Liverpool is avoided in the weather often probably due to it being too close to Manchester!

You would think people would have more things on their minds Kev...lol
Yeah I noticed that about Liverpool/Manchester. My thinking is everyone knows where the centre of the universe is so they don't need telling! :D

I've always that the feeling that rather than just being a North South thing, its a deliberate trait on behalf of tourism.
Its appears to me that most of the UKs holiday destinations, aside from London, are more Northerly and up to and as far as Scotland and the Isles, so I do really think that the weather is 'toyed' with a little to paint a gloomier picture of these northerly destinations, and always seem to have a big smiley sun and the hottest temps by far over London, regardless of the weather.
Tourism brings in a lot of money, and, just as obstacles are placed to make it difficult to enter the UK anywhere north of the southern states, for example the main port in Southampton (obviously its in easy reach for the whole of the UK, let alone London :disgust:) and the main international airports based around London, so I think the weather is tampered with to keep tourism as high as possible in the southern half. After all, who would visit London then trudge 350 miles to the lakes, or other major cities? (I don't count Manchester as a tourism hotspot really as it has very limited tourist attractions aside from shopping - no bias here, I grew up near there and used to be a regular visitor)
Maybe I'm just paranoid. Maybe not.
