victorialush 01-07-2006, 09:45 AM I love this movie and have it on DVD.... very, very funny in a dark kind of way. ... Ricky Tomlinsons character in it makes me laugh hard!
I was in it too, got a photo of Sam Jackson somewhere around...plus a few funny stories :p
I'm made up, I watched 'Mojo' last night, and Ricky and the other lads were great, very impressed with the film.
And 51st State is on CH4 tonight... whey hey!!!

Yeah I know, I'll shut it ;)
Watch as the skinheads run out of the 'Hotel', in the background there is me walking up on the pavement in a cream coloured jacket with a girl. It happens very quickly but i'm in that scene twice. Once on one side of the rd then again on the other side of rd with the same girl as the camera changes.
Someone get a screen grab! Let me know if ya see me :p

What part of Liverpool was that which was supposed to be Manchester?
Funny movie though, my dads mate is the guy who sells them the yellow and red mini cooper and that trash boat for the wrecked up Jaguar.
The Yew Tree Pub, off Princess Drive, West Derby/ Canny Farm. That was the pub in the Man United scene.
Did anyone see Top Gear last night? One of their car test features was filmed in Liverpool City Centre. They tested the nimbleness of a car again 2 'city jumpers' those guys that jump all over rooves and structures around our cities.

James May, the presenter thought he had won the race as he arrived at the Liver Buildings with no sight of the runners, little did he know, they were doing handstands at the top of the Liver Buildings!!!!
It's repeated on Tuesday.......

If it gives the city a good name, it's always good to see Liverpool on the telly!

It did
Funny story!
Watched the show with my girlfriend and her brother. Then had to drop her brother at Lime Street. As we were pulling up we saw some guy running alongside the wall at Lime Street.
Me, my girlfriend and her brother were wetting ourselves.
We weren't sure whether the bloke had decided to try it after seeing it on the tv, or whether it was what he did on a normal Sunday night!
In case anyone missed it, here's the whole feature about 8 minutes long. Enjoy, see how many land marks you can spot!

wallasey 07-25-2006, 10:41 PM It was obvious that James May had never actually driven around the city before as it is pretty direct to get to the Liver Building from St Johns Car Park. All he needed to do was go down Dale Street having gone up Great Crosshall Street! Was it me or was he driving round the back of the Adelphi? He Was wasn't he!
Do you notice the Met Quatre? those two lads ran through it and jumped their way along! Shame one of their comfy sofas wasn't shown though!
It was also great to see the Wirral on there too! Wallasey's Dock Road was on there as was the roundabout at Gorsey Lane!
But can you imagine anyone not pronouncing "the Liver" properly! I was shocked TBH!

Its only when its a recogisable location do you begin to think about editing and what goes into making a TV programme. At one point James May was driving away from Liverpool city centre when he should have been going the other way
wallasey 07-25-2006, 11:20 PM But he said he was six miles away from the Liver building when he set off from the St johns! i know that Dale Street can be a slog on foot but it is certainly not six miles! If he was starting at Belle Vale Shopping Centre, It would be six miles; I would have thought that seeing as he didn't know the city well, he would have consulted the A-Z or use a Sat nav???? He also went through Chinatown too!
I mean, he was on top of the St johns so surely he would have seen where he was going???
wallasey 07-26-2006, 11:31 PM For those who would like to know, the programme is repeated yet again on...
BBC3 Sat 29 Jul, 19:00 - 20:00
So theres no excuse this time for missing it! Besides which, the other parts of the programme is funny too especially when they build a kit car and all fall out!
wallasey 08-06-2006, 12:15 AM After looking through the endless reams of channels on Sky, I came across Channel M. This is the station for Greater Manchester and I think is operated by the Manchester Evening News.
Now, Forgive me if I am wrong, didn't Liverpool have it's own TV station at some point in time? From memory, the livery was yellow but I am unsure. If it is still around, does anyone know it's title?? Would love to take a look!

wallasey 08-06-2006, 05:10 PM Thanks for the link! those posts were very interesting! I wonder if the BBC will every make a Liverpool special mini news programme? Would certainly be a great asset when it comes to the run up to 2008!

Howie 08-14-2006, 08:50 PM Isn't that Mikey (of BB fame) sitting on the grass playing the guitar in the free preview?
SUPERSTAR chef Gordon Ramsay was in Liverpool at the weekend to sort out another restaurant for his Kitchen Nightmares series. more (http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100regionalnews/tm_objectid=17722189%26method=full%26siteid=50061% 26headline=the%2dnightmare%2dis%2damong%2dus-name_page.html)

No, you're not wrong Channel One Liverpool was a cable TV station providing local and national news, sport, weather and travel information for Liverpool.
Unfortunately it was a load of boring amateurish cr@p ....and no longer with us. They had a 'News Reader' who was the equivalant of watching paint dry, — he might as well have just shown us the words and let us read it ourselves. And the 'colour' was out of this world.
Something to do with the Echo, I believe that says it all!
