Gustaf Adolf Church

The Scandinavian Seamen's Church was built in 1883 in an Octagon form and has always been a church for Scandinavians. During the most hectic years of emigration from Scandinavia to the 'New World' (1850-1910) over 50,000 people visited the Swedish church every year. In the church there are two beautiful sculptures by the Liverpool artist Arthur Doyle.

Gustaf Adolf Church

The Scandinavian Seamen's Church was built in 1883 in an Octagon form and has always been a church for Scandinavians. During the most hectic years of emigration from Scandinavia to the 'New World' (1850-1910) over 50,000 people visited the Swedish church every year. In the church there are two beautiful sculptures by the Liverpool artist Arthur Doyle.

Martins Building is regarded as one of Herbert J Rowse's architectural masterpieces, extravagantly embellished with outstanding sculpture by H Tyson Smith.
