hello friends,
my name is johnlemmon and I am an ex-pat scouser, born & bred in Rawson Road, Seaforth, and now living in Brisbane Australia. I am a Special Needs teacher and am looking to come back home to live.
I have lived in Oz for 15 years now and have just been home (in May) for a couple of weeks for family bereavements. I was really homesick and would like to return soon to look for work in a soecial school in Liverpool.
Does anyone have any contacts in a special school.?
I am an avid Liverpool supporter and stay up most nights when there is a match on, as they usually start after midnight here.
Does anyone want any holiday information about Brisbane or Queeensland or the Gold Coast, just let me know and I can get some stuff for you and put it on here.
thats all for now, oh and I write Poetry and short stories, mainly about Liverpool FC, but I will write one for you guys soon...

Hi John - Congrats on being the 300th member!!!!! Yo! Liverpool celebrates its 1 year birthday next month too :celb (23):
Ex-pat scouser eh? Home sick you must be. The biggest worry I have about such a big move is leaving the City plus my family.
Welcome and thanks for the offer of info.
Jobs? Here's the latest issue of Liverpool School's Bulletin (http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/Images/tcm21-67548.pdf) with jobs in. The archive of past issues plus the most recent can be found here (http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/Education_and_learning/Schools_and_colleges/school_bulletin/index.asp).

You might like to try the Wikipedia on Ken Dodd, John Lemmon. There are a few links there that might be of use to you.

I live a big Ian Botham six from young Kev, Lemmo. That's Garston by the way.
:celb (23):
Only 20 minutes away from Wavertree too, so it's not all bad for Garston.:PDT_Aliboronz_24::Colorz_Grey_PDT_16:

hello max from wavertree, dave from garston...i miss the old place, they are like pieces of n old jigsaw that you remember doing when you were a kid...
I want to come back home and have been looking for work on the internet, but so far, I've hit a blank...
I am a special needs teacher and am looking for work in a special school or a childrens half-way house or similar.
There are few places on earth like Liverpool, the smell of the Mesrey in the 60's, New Brighton Open Air Baths, the Ferry and the Fairground, The busy ferry at Pier Head, the 12 D to Anfield after a choppy ride accross the Mersey...
or saving the bus fare & walking up Scotty Road, past the many pubs that lined its famous pavement,
walking up to Anfield and the expectation of a famous victory, the curry & chips before queuing up for the Boys Pen...
all part of a boys initiation on a saturday afternoon in Liverpool in the 60's...
ah, now where's me zimmerframe and slippers...

Liverpool was a great - place to be, specially growing up in the 1960s' - my childhood memories are like what you describe ; the river .. spending Sunday afternoons listening to the rants from 'speakers corner' .. then walking back through the town and up London rd, window shopping all the way 'cos in those days none of the shops were shuttered or boarded up, living by the 2 footie grounds (which I still do) and the atmosphere on saturdays when the match was on, New Brighton, Otterspool, getting the 68 bus to Bootle and change to a Ribble bus for Crosby Blundle Sands - carrying buckets and spades and a picnic. :) Experiencing the Merseybeat era - the sheer excitement of it. Liverpool was the place to be !
Liverpool is going to be great in a different way once all the new buildings are completed.
You won't recognise the old place !

Hello,
I live in Dewsbury and I think Dewsbury should be known as Liverpool East, because Dewsbury is like the next coolest place. :D
Hey, Lemmo. I like this one too - :037: :D

Lindylou... the old Red Ribble, of course... to blundellsands, ainsdale beach, and Southport if we were lucky and a visit from Aunty Lil from York... tree-lined Lord Street, fish n chips on the windy seafront... i remember living up the road as a spotty 17 year old going to Southport College, living on the street where Red Rum & trainer Ginger McCain walked past each morning on their way to the beach for Rummies early morning run & swim... Boy did we have the inside knowledge...
Silver Blades Ice Rink up the top of Kensington... and the ABC on a Saturday morning, Roy Rogers and Trigger blasting accross our silver screens...
ahhh..., yes, let the good times return, the kids of today have missed out on all the real culture, walking up Scotty Road, counting the many pubs on each corner...
I'm coming home...

I was in the Silver Blades every week. My mum, nan & aunty all worked there ! My nan was a cloakroom attendant, my mum worked in the cafe/restaurant, my aunt worked on the sweet kiosk (but nor for long as she emigrated to Australia). I spent many Saturday afternoons watching the skaters.
The place no longer exists. It was demolished some time ago.
