Hi Guys & Gals

Whats the better of the two...TFT or LCD?

I don't know you see as I've always used a CRT monitor,well this one I have now is on the way out and its time to go for a flatty.

Any things I should look out for? I use graphic software a lot but don't play games so I'm thinking what should I stay clear of, wanting it for refresh rate speed.

A TFT is a type of LCD. I think most monitors now are TFT type, I could be wrong.

I have an old Lappy thats TFT it has a couple of dead pixels and was wondering will LCD have this same problem?

I use graphic intensive programs....

Things like Architectural rendering,3D rendering,paintshop pro,Adobe photoshop ect,ect

I've just been browsing and noticed that some monitors incorporate LCD/TFT whats all that when its at home?

Lcd desktop monitors are less likely to get damaged like the Laptop because they generally don't get moved around so much, lightweight small and neat.
I use mine for editing photo's so detail pretty good.

Ok made my mind up and I'm going for a flat screen monitor.

So what is the actual height of a 22" wide screen? ie what size is the actual screen itself diagonally and horizontally?

If yer can measure yours I'd be gratful

George, if you're going for a 22" screen then that's the diagonal measurement. The horizontal and vertical measurements would differ depending on whether it's a 4:3 standard screen monitor or 16:10 wide screen computer monitor.

Dell list their 22" 16:10 widescreen monitors as 20.14 inches x 16.04 inches.
