Hi, was wondering if anybody has any old pictures / new pictures of this building at the junction of Earle Road / Smithdown Road. Only remember vaguely some of the interior like the wooden long seats, doctors "buzzers", the old paintings above reception etc

Regards

Tony

It used to be a bank, Midland I think. But closed down in the late 60's early 70's

Was empty for ages then became a doctor's surgery.:snf (41):

The doctors then moved to a new surgery in Earle Road.

My Dad was the Head of Practice (head GP) at 1 Smithdown Rd - he retired in 1992. They moved there in about 1980 having previously been at 13 Smithdown Rd. It was indeed an old bank and on many a quiet weekend we'd drive over and he'd check up on something while I got the chance to visit what were the old bank vaults in the basement, with their HUGE metal doors.

Great place and nice memories. Shame it's closed now.
