A PROMISING young model is a step closer to winning a major beauty pageant after she was named Miss Teen World International UK.

Melissa Reeves, 17, from West Derby was chosen from 25 other girls from across the UK on Saturday and will now compete in the final in the Bahamas next month.

Bernice Catterall, who runs the UK pageants, said: ?The girls were all beautiful, it was such a hard decision but Melissa was just so naturally beautiful.?

The winner of Miss Teen World International will take home $25,000.

Melissa?s mum Margaret Reeves said: ?We are all so proud of her. We?re beaming with happiness, she has done fantastic.

?She is so excited about going to the Bahamas, it is going to be fantastic. It has brought out her inner confidence.?
