Police probe in HGV house smash

Police are continuing to investigate an accident in which a lorry smashed into four houses after colliding with a car in Liverpool.

A 27-year-old man is seriously ill in hospital

The lorry struck homes on Queens Drive in Walton when it collided with a Renault Scenic on Saturday morning.

The Renault driver, a 27-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital, said police.

Residents of three of the properties have been allowed to return to their homes.

Structural engineers from Liverpool City Council are still checking the damage to the fourth property.

Part of the southbound carriageway of Queens Drive remains closed to traffic.
