Its better if you go to Burbo Bank Kev, thats right by Crosby Lifeboat Station.
If you go there the car park is right overlooking the statues.
We went to Crosby Marina but its a good walk and slightly knackering.

Kev you really need to see these things before they go elsewhere, they are worth the effort and yes you have to get out of your car.
lindylou 04-23-2006, 12:40 PM I wish they could stay. They are being sent to New York.
Pity they couldn't just leave one or two here for us - there are enough of them. Or couldn't they just make a few more for us to keep  :)
Paul D 04-26-2006, 04:42 PM They could have bought them for 1.5 million but I think the sefton council haven't opted to because they would have to pay for their upkeep, they reckon they have put 3 million into the local economy so they've already paid for themselves twice over so it seems a bargain to me,I hope they have a change of heart because I'd be sad to see them go.
Paul D 04-27-2006, 02:00 PM Gormley happy to stop statues from walking.
ARTIST Antony Gormley would be happy for his iron men to stay permanently at Crosby beach - but only if their long-term future can be guaranteed.
Last week, the ECHO revealed that discussions were taking place over whether it was feasible to keep the statues either for Capital of Culture year or permanently.
The installation has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors since it was unveiled last June, and has generated an estimated £3m for the local economy.
But it is due to be moved to New York in November.
National Museums Liverpool, Liverpool Biennial and the Culture Company have all been involved in talks with South Sefton Development Trust over the artwork's future.
Antony Gormley is abroad. But a member of his team said for the installation to remain there would have to be "the right kind of commitment and investment on the part of people who make the decisions."
She added: "He would like the installation to stay if it was possible, but we're very aware of the difficulties there were getting the right authority to have it there temporarily.
"We'd have to secure the future in terms of conservation and there are many things to talk about to make sure it's safeguarded for posterity."
Meanwhile Gormley's iron army marches on. But the newest figures are not bound for Crosby.
Instead, they are waiting to be shipped to Calabria in southern Italy, where they will be among olive trees and on hills in an archaeological park.
Although the figures, each weighing 650kg, are the same as the 100 statues spread across the Crosby sands, Mr Gormley's studio says the artwork is completely different.
The statues have been cast at West Bromwich foundry firm Joseph & Jesse Siddons Ltd.
Managing director Andrew Siddons said: "We got involved nine years ago when we cast 30 of the original statues which are at Crosby, and we've done all 100 of the new figures."
lindylou 04-27-2006, 07:32 PM They could have bought them for 1.5 million but I think the sefton council haven't opted to because they would have to pay for their upkeep, they reckon they have put 3 million into the local economy so they've already paid for themselves twice over so it seems a bargain to me,I hope they have a change of heart because I'd be sad to see them go.
If they kept just one or two, they wouldn't cost too much to maintain surely??
I know there are meant to be many of the iron men looking out to sea, but I think if we could just keep maybe two of them, they would look just as intriguing. They would be a nice reminder of the originals.
I will be very sad to see them go.
Paul D 04-28-2006, 12:29 PM Personally I've got a feeling they'll be kept at crosby myself.

Thanks Lindy the views of the Wirral and North Wales in the Summer is special.
Anthony Gormley's Another Place art installation at Crosby Beach in Merseyside has been named as the Best Tourism Experience in the region.
Liverpool's World Museum was named the Large Visitor Tourist Attraction of the Year at the Mersey Partnership Tourism Awards, held in the city on Friday.
The museum, which has an aquarium and a Bug House, was renovated and expanded to nearly twice its size last year.
Wirral's Spaceport museum also scooped the Tourism for All award.
Martin King, director of tourism at the Mersey Partnership, said the night is another memorable landmark for the tourism industry.
He said with three major events in the region in the next two years - Liverpool's 800th birthday, Capital of Culture in 2008 and the Open golf championships in Wirral this summer - there has never been a more exciting time for the region.

Here's a few more from Crosby beach.
ANTONY Gormley's iron men on Crosby beach have landed another prestigious award.
South Sefton Development Trust, the organisation that brought Another Place to the area, has been honoured in the waterside regeneration category of the 2006 Northwest Business Environment Awards.
The award, presented at a gala dinner at Manchester's Palace Hotel, was the third major honour this year for the 100 Gormley sculptures.
The artwork has also been recognised as best tourism experience of the year in the Mersey Partnership Tourism Awards and as one of the best examples of regeneration in the region by the RENEW Northwest Exemplar Learning Programme.
The Northwest Business Environment Awardaims to recognise an exceptional, innovative project that enhances its waterside site while making a positive impact on the wider area. The award says that, as well as being an "awe-inspiring installation" in its own right, Another Place represents "the true spirit of regeneration".
ANTONY GORMLEY'S iron men statues are set to become a permanent feature on the Merseyside coast.
A charitable trust is expected to be set up within days to stop the Another Place artwork being removed from Crosby beach this autumn.
The board of trustees, to include MPs and high-profile business people, would raise funds to buy the piece, ending months of speculation over whether it would remain in the region for the 2008 celebrations.
Sefton officials believe the statues, due to move to New York in November, will act as a catalyst for the regeneration of the coastline.
Crosby MP Claire Curtis-Thomas, who would be on the board, told the Daily Post: "This is an internationally-renowned work of art and it should stay in the area. I think we may well have found a way to keep them here for Capital of Culture year."
The trust was proposed by television presenter Loyd Grossman, chairman of the North West Cultural Consortium, after repeated requests from the public and politicians to keep the statues on Merseyside.
Councillors on Sefton's cabinet are expected to approve the proposal at a meeting on Thursday.
The board would include Neil Pakey, chief executive of Liverpool John Lennon Airport, David Wade-Smith, chairman of the Mersey Partnership tourism committee, and Sara Wilde, chairwoman of Mersey Waterfront and managing director of the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo.
Members would begin assessing the viability of keeping the statues, start raising funds and enter into a contract with Sefton to keep them maintained and insured.
Negotiations have already taken place with Mr Gormley and his commercial dealer, and officials have set a working target of £2m for the purchase, modifications and maintenance.
In a report to go before cabinet on Thursday, Sefton chief executive Graham Haywood says the piece has created a "feelgood factor" in Crosby, by creating jobs, doubling visitor numbers and boosting the local economy.
He says a series of projects could benefit from the statues' positive profile, including the refurbishment of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal towpath, proposals to transform Crosby marine lake into a specialist watersports centre, and converting Seaforth's radar tower into a public observatory.
Mr Haywood also highlights the role of Another Place as "a source of local educational and artistic inspiration".
He adds: "The interest provoked by Another Place among schoolchildren, their parents and the wider community is strong, with spin-off projects already being enthusiastically supported, but it could be taken much further still."
It is hoped a planning application will be lodged in October. However, the trust needs to have carried out a programme of reviews by mid-August, amid environmental and safety concerns.
There is also a risk the statues could deteriorate over the next 10 years, or lose their appeal.
Reviews would include studies on coastal impact, wildlife and beach safety issues, as well as a transport assessment and a public consultation.
In his report, Mr Haywood states: "This is an ambitious work programme for the time available.
"There may be the need to seek an interim extension of time to assemble the longer-term case.
"Antony Gormley has recently indicated he would be prepared to defer removal to New York for a limited period if there is sufficient progress towards Another Place being purchased and remaining on Crosby beach."
The principal agency supporting the trust would be Liverpool Biennial, while Liverpool solicitors Hill ****enson have been commissioned to provide legal advice.

Accolades - and visitors - flood in for masterpiece
A YEAR on from the official launch of Another Place, the installation has won three major tourism awards and attracted visitors from all over the UK and as far afield as Russia.
Visitor numbers to the sculptures, which were cast from Mr Gormley's body, are expected to have hit the 600,000 mark by November.
The 100 statues, instal- led at a cost of £150,000, are also expected to bring £6m to the local economy before they are due to leave - £1m more than was expected.
More than 700 pupils in 20 schools have been involved in an education project based on the sculptures.

ARTIST Antony Gormley has given the campaign to keep his iron men statues on Crosby beach a massive boost - by fully supporting the plans.
Mr Gormley told the Daily Post he thought making the beach the permanent home for the Another Place work was the "best future" for it.
The lease on the artwork, which has been on the Sefton coastline since June last year, runs out on November 28 when they are due to go to New York.
The popularity of the statues - visited by 600,000 people so far - has led to a multi-million pound injection into the region's economy.
That prompted Sefton Council to assemble a Trust, which includes high-profile figures from across Merseyside, which aims to pay for the statues to stay.
Mr Gormley's backing is a significant boost to the £2m campaign - launched earlier this month - to make them a permanent feature on the Merseyside coastline.
He said: "I think Crosby beach is a fantastic place and I think for Another Place that is the best future for it and for the people.
"It is a lovely, big, working beach. Somehow the presence of the hills in Wales means it's very English but also connects to the rest of the world."
The creator of Another Place was in Liverpool to receive an Honorary Fellowship from the Liverpool John Moores University in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the arts.
He added: "It's a huge honour. I put my first show at a Tate gallery on here in Liverpool.
"It's a great city, I think Scousers are great. They have a wonderful sense of humour. The city has a racing vitality."
Mr Gormley insisted the final decision was not his and would depend on funds being raised to pay for Another Place to stay. But his clear desire to see them remain in Merseyside is viewed as being a key part in negotiations.
Arts and business organisations have joined together to draw up a feasibility plan for keeping the installation in Crosby.
If the artwork meets the criteria, they will set up a public limited company with charitable status to set about raising the funds within a matter of months.
The plans were formed after it was proposed by television presenter Loyd Grossman, chairman of the North West Cultural Consortium.
Last night, he told the Daily Post: "It is really encouraging that he is so enthusiastic. He is a very thoughtful man with a great community ethos.
"A lot of people are behind this project. Another Place has brought together a wide range of people and is so accessible. "It really is a great piece and shows how art can really transform a place."
Campaigner Angela Heslop presented Mr Gormley with press cuttings and photos about the statues after the graduation to show him the strength of feeling locally.
She said: "It's great news he's backing them to stay. I can't imagine them being anywhere else, they look as though they have always been here."
Another Place came to Crosby beach in June, 2005, and consists of 100 casts of the artist's own body spread along the shoreline.
Lewis Biggs, Director of Liverpool Biennial and part of the trust trying to save the artwork, said: "A trust to take ownership of the work is being formed, and the necessary permissions are being sought. This is an extraordinary opportunity for the Northwest to keep its own major part of the history of art, which is also a fantastic draw for tourists."

But surfers and sailors are complaining they might never be able to use its lively waters again.

Now they are calling for Antony Gormley's Another Place artwork to be removed in November, despite efforts by tourism officials to keep it on Merseyside.

Liverpool Echo
SUPPORTERS of Antony Gormley's iron men are appealing for a four-month stay of execution for the statues.
The Another Place installation is due to be moved from Crosby beach in October before it is shipped to New York to go on display there.
A £2m campaign was launched earlier this year to keep the 100 iron sculptures at Crosby.
Now Another Place Ltd, the company set up to look at the long-term future for the installation, has applied to Sefton council for a temporary extension to planning consent.
It says the tides and short daylight hours mean the statues cannot be removed at the end of their planning consent on November 28, but must be taken out next month.

Councillors are being asked to allow Antony Gormley's beach statues to remain on the Merseyside coast until next spring.
One hundred life-size naked cast iron figures are in place on Crosby beach courtesy of artist Antony Gormley, who also created The Angel of the North.
Called Another Place, the attraction has already been exhibited in Belgium, Norway and Germany.
Sefton Planning Committee will discuss the application on 20 September.
Each statue is a cast of the artist's own body, weighing 650kg (1433lbs) and standing 1.96m tall (6ft 5in).
The figures spread 3km (1.86 miles) along the coastline and 1km out to sea, are partly submerged at different times, depending on changing tides and weather conditions. The statues have temporary planning permission until 30 November but Another Place Ltd - the company set up to keep the statues on the beach - wants them to stay for at least another four months.

SEFTON'S planning committee was last night unable to reach a decision on whether to grant a four-month stay of execution for Antony Gormley's iron men statues on Crosby beach.
Another Place Ltd, the trust set up to look into the long-term future of the installation, had applied to Sefton council for a temporary extension to planning consent.
It said the tides and short daylight hours meant the 100 life-size statues could not be removed at the end of their temporary planning consent on November 30, but must be taken out at the end of next month.
The company claimed a four-month extension would take it to the spring, when the longer daylight hours would allow safe removal of the work.
It said it would also allow for feasibility studies into whether the statues could remain at the Crosby site, rather than being moved to New York.

Yes, and once NY gets them, they will keep 'em I bet.
Dave W 10-20-2006, 12:29 PM Ok so the original plan was for them to be moved to NYC Nov 06.
How can we be so short sighted ?
We are 14 months away from
capital of culture and we let slip through our fingers something which IS CULTURE and has brought pleasure, and more importantly , visitors and REVENUE into
the local economy
I thought Debi Jones was a sensible lady.
How much would it be to retain ? 2 mill 3 mill ? Money well spent methinks when you

What about Lottery funding ? Isnt that what its for ?

I don't really know what to think.
If health and Safety matters are an issue,

For culture reasons they could come up with an agreement though.

Brenda 10-20-2006, 03:21 PM Are they trying to say the Iron Men

I think they are great and should be left where they are.

As for people getting stranded becuase of their own stupidity? it's
their choice.
Any health and safety concerns should have been brought up before these were installed. Its been suggested that they move them to a
promenade further up, had to laugh at that suggestion.

as Kev listed above: it's mainly the water sports enthusiasts who are objecting and calling them a maritime hazzard.
I was listening to some phone-ins
on the subject and seemingly the water sports people were promised that the restrictions to their activities would only last for 18 months and then they
could have 'their beach' back.
Also there have apparently been problems with people wading out to the statues.
... but as I said, why
can't they thin out the number of iron men and keep some at a safer distance ??

BUREAUCRACY must not triumph over art. That was the verdict last
night from Antony Gormley, the artist who created the iconic Another Place statues that have made Crosby's waterfront an international talking point.

THE Daily Post’s campaign to save the Antony Gormley statues is fast gaining momentum, with 90% of its readers voting to keep
them on Merseyside in an internet poll.
Hundreds of visitors descended on Crosby yesterday to visit the 100 iron men, fearing it would be one
of the last opportunities to see them on Waterloo beach.
Last night, it emerged a funding body will this week announce whether it will grant £1m towards
the £2m fight to keep the statues in Sefton.
The Daily Post understands government agency The Northern Way was set to approve the cash, but is
reconsidering after Sefton council ruled the statues must be removed on October 31.
But Another Place Ltd, the trust set up to try and keep installation
in Merseyside, is still fighting to keep them. Last night, it emerged that a number of councils up and down the country want the attraction
for their own coastline.
Among them are Lancashire County Council which said it wants to bid for funds which could help them move the statues,
known as Another Place, across the border.
So far, Morecambe Bay is said to be top of the county’s wish-list to host the figures, although Lytham St Annes
and Fleetwood have also expressed an interest.
Wirral have already said they want the statues to move to the other side of the Mersey, attracted by the
millions of pounds they promise in tourist revenue for the local economy.
But campaigners hoping to see the 100 cast-iron statues kept in Merseyside said
they would carry on fighting.

THE people of Norway rue the day they let the Antony Gormley statues go, it was revealed last night.
The 100 iron men, which
now stand on Waterloo beach, spent a year on Sola Beach in Stavanger. Sven Egil Ombal, the culture editor on the city's respected regional newspaper the
Stavanger Aftenblad, says the Norwegians would take back Another Place in an instant.
Like Liverpool, 2008 will be a big year for Stavanger when it
will celebrate the title of non-EU Capital of Culture.
Mr Ombal said: "Many people in our city still have posters of Another Place in their houses.
"If we could have kept hold of them, we would have without a doubt.

THE scheduled
removal date of the Antony Gormley statues from Waterloo Beach is just eight days away. Yesterday, contractors turned up at the waterfront to begin planning
the dismantling operation on October 31.
But the campaign to keep them, spearheaded by the Liverpool Daily Post, is fast gaining momentum and Another
Place could still be saved.
To some the iron men, which have attracted more than 600,000 visitors, have outstayed their welcome.
But to most,
the decision of Sefton's planning committee to turn them away on health and safety grounds last week was unexpected.

Paul D 10-24-2006, 05:14 PM Gormley sea statues win reprieve
The cast iron figures were due for removal on 31 October
One hundred cast iron statues a council ordered to be removed from a beach have won
a temporary reprieve.
Sefton Council had refused to extend permission allowing Another Place - the sea sculptures created by Anthony Gormley - to remain
on Crosby Beach.
But the council said on Tuesday the naked men statues could stay while a planning appeal is considered.
Northern Way, which
promotes economic development in the north, is set to grant £1m to keep the statues.
The life-size casts, at scattered locations over three
kilometres, are visible when the tide is out but submerged when the water is in.
Regeneration lobby
Last week the council's planning
committee rejected an application to keep the statues on the beach until next year, citing safety reasons.
But with supporters of the statues
expected to lodge an appeal triggering a public inquiry, the council said it would not enforce their removal on 31 October.
Another Place Ltd - whose
members include TV presenter Lloyd Grossman and Lewis Biggs Chief Executive of Liverpool Biennial - hopes to raise £2m to keep the work in Crosby.
This has been boosted by Northern Way, which said it would grant £1m to the statues if other funding was in place and planning permission granted.
Council Chief Executive Graham Haywood, said: "Another Place has proved to be a very evocative project which has captured the imagination of many
people and attracted substantial numbers of visitors.
"It also has enabled me to lobby regionally for a package of regeneration measures for this
area with Another Place at the heart.
"However, we must accept there are issues raised by the Coastguard, RSPB, English Nature, residents and other
local groups that need consideration."
Last week Mr Gormley, who also created the Angel Of The North, said the statues worked better at Crosby than
anywhere else and should be retained.
They have also been exhibited in Germany, Norway and Belgium.

THE Antony Gormley statues due to be
dismantled and removed from Crosby Beach next Monday have won a stay of execution.
An appeal has now begun against the refusal of Sefton planners to
allow the Iron Men to stay, meaning they will remain until at least March.
Chief executive of Sefton council, Graham Haywood, vowed to do everything

Mr Haywood said councillors may have been swayed by crowds at last week’s planning committee, but said
their decision had put major developments at risk and cost Sefton its

A PLAN to keep the
iron men in Crosby has been launched, as £1m towards the £2m cost was announced.
Sefton council will work with opposing sides in the battle over
Antony Gormley's statues to reach a compromise which would let them remain at Crosby beach permanently.
Councillors controversially refused a
four-month extension of the artwork's stay on the 1km waterfront stretch after hearing about safety concerns and residents' objections.
They were
then accused of allowing the unique Another Place display to slip through Merseyside's fingers, just 14 months before Liverpool is crowned Capital of

are coming to look out of curiosity. Some hadn't been aware before of the Crosby district, and didn't know there was a nice beach and marina.

I got this off the Echo website we would
be mad to get rid of this.
Paul D 10-26-2006, 05:23 PM Thank you for your email. My apologies for not replying sooner, but I have
been working away for nearly a week. I fully understand your concerns, and would like to you to know the full story. The main point is that this is NOT a
plot to get rid of the statues!
A substantial amount of vitriol has been directed at Sefton Planning Committee, and myself in particular over
last week's decision to refuse an extension of the time permitted for the Iron men to stay, at the end of their agreed stay of nearly two years. What
actually went on? Over the past two months I have been contacted by large numbers of local people voicing two main concerns. One, that they would be further
prevented from using the area for recreational water pursuits, for another, unspecified and ultimately moveable length of time. The other was over the safety
aspect of the siting of many of the statues.
Whilst I fully appreciate and wholeheartedly support the cultural and tourism values that the
statues bring, my ultimate priority has to be the concerns and welfare of the people within my constituency who contact me, and whom I have been elected to
serve. I approached the MCA (Maritime and Coastguard Agency) to ask their opinion of whether or not there was a problem. They informed me that they were
seriously worried about several incidents they had attended, and were surprised and disappointed that none of their advice or concerns had been voiced at
planning meetings. Along with other evidence, I read out this section of a letter from the MCA which was sent to Planning, at last week's planning
meeting.
"I would wish to make it absolutely clear that the Maritime and Coastguard Agency does not support the proposal to retain the
Another Place sculptural installation over the long term and ideally would prefer that the statues be removed by the original approval expiry date of 30th
November ’06. The safety concerns are considerable and it is extremely fortunate that the incidents which have occurred since their installation have been
resolved satisfactorily. That said the outcome of two of the incidents could have been more serious, if not fatal, had it not been for the favourable ebb
tide and the speed of the available Search and Rescue Resources."
This speaks for itself. A vote was taken, and I was one of eight
cross-party members (ie from ALL parties) who voted for refusal. I am delighted that that the safety issue has been brought to the fore, and must now be
addressed. It could have been resolved sooner if people had been listened to. The next step should be to look for a way forward, possibly moving the statues
installed in the soft sand and mud flats to further back on the beach where they are safe to view, and do not interfere with other activities. I am amazed
that no-one from Liverpool Biennial, Another Place Ltd, or indeed anyone who wants the statues to stay had not suggested this the first time (months ago)
that the aforementioned concerns were expressed.
I WISH TO PLACE ON RECORD MY PERSONAL ENJOYMENT OF THE ANTHONY GORMLEY ARTWORK, AND STRESS
THAT MY PRIMARY CONCERN HAS BEEN TO HIGHLIGHT THE SIGNIFICANT CONCERNS FROM LARGE NUMBERS OF MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC, AND RELEVANT BODIES, REGARDING THE SAFETY
ASPECT OF THE INSTALLATION. IF THE DEBATE SURROUNDING THE DECISION AT THE PLANNING MEETING HAS HIGHLIGHTED THE CONSIDERABLE AND, UNTIL NOW, DISREGARDED
CONCERNS, THEN I FEEL THAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED A BALANCE OVERALL.
.
I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT EVERY DECISION I TAKE HAS TO BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF
THE CONSTITUENTS WHO HAVE PLACED THEIR TRUST IN ME. MY ROLE AS A COUNCILLOR HAS BEEN VERY MUCH A LIFESTYLE CHOICE, AS OPPOSED TO A CAREER CHOICE, I HAVE
COMMITTED MYSELF TO SERVE THOSE WHO VOTE FOR ME TO THE VERY BEST OF MY ABILITY. BUT, PLEASE LET IT BE REMEMBERED THAT I HAVE TO SERVE THE INTERESTS OF ALL,
EVEN THOSE WHO HAVE SHOWN CONCERN OR DISLIKE FOR THE GORMLEY INSTALLATIONS.
I WELCOME THE LEVEL OF INTEREST THAT THE DECISION AT THE
PLANNING MEETING HAS PROVOKED AND I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT WE CAN NOW ENGAGE IN A LEVEL OF DISCUSSION WHICH SATISFIES THE CULTURAL AND TOURISM AGENDA WHILST AT
THE SAME TIME FULFILLS THE HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES THAT HAVE CAUSED SUCH CONCERN.
I AM AND ALWAYS WILL BE FULLY COMMITTED TO WHAT IS BEST
FOR MY CONSTITUENCY AND FUNDAMENTALLY FOR THOSE PEOPLE WITHIN MY CONSTITUENCY.

TWO planning
councillors who did not vote to keep the Antony Gormley statues in Sefton are likely to make a U-turn in support of the artwork.
Predictions of a
change in the tide within the borough council's planning committee came last night as Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell backed the Daily Post's Save Our

Labour councillor Jim Mahon had voted against keeping the 100 iron men on Crosby beach, while his colleague Daren Veidman's vote
was recorded as an abstention.
The Daily Post understands Cllr Veidman has now claimed his vote was miscounted and he was actually in favour of the
planning application, which was rejected on

knowhowe 02-26-2007, 12:49 AM Hello everyone. I'm new to this excellent site and this is my first posting.
I grew up in Crosby and this beach was one of my favourite playgrounds. Back then, very much more shipping passed close by en route for the docks of Liverpool and the beach was littered with their flotsam and jetsam, not to mention a generous coating of filthy oil- we kids were constantly in trouble for coming home covered in the stuff! The beach also extended much further north in my childhood- construction of the modern extension to the docks known as the Seaforth Container Terminal- visible in the background of a couple of these pictures- was commenced when I was a pupil at Waterloo Grammar School, just down the road. Prior to that, that part was a great area of rolling sand dunes littered with pyramid-shaped 'tank traps' and pill boxes- leftovers from the war- and a great playground for us!
We queued up for the opening of Crosby Swimming Baths next to the beach and subsequently went there often. This, I notice, has since been replaced.
One of the few blessings of the radical decline in the trade to the Port of Liverpool is that Crosby beach, as myself and my family (some of who where visiting here from their home in Australia) encountered it when we first came to see Another Place, is that it is very cleaner than I remember it. Wonderful, too, to see so many visitors from all over the world, drawn here by Anthony Gormley's figures, enjoying it too.
But, then, Crosby beach was always 'another place' for me!
