I have received so many warm Liverpool welcomes from so many members of Yo Liverpool. If I've missed sending anyone a 'thank you', please accept this as my 'thank you.'

You're a super group and I think I will start posting as soon as I learn how to navigate this site.

Again, thanks for the 'welcomes.'

OOPS< Sorry Art, I should have read your intro first, if something can be done bassackwards I'll manage it. I lived in Hollister for a while, a bit north and a bit sweeter than L.A. :celb (23): Now, the foothills? The Sierras? Don't matter really anywhere out of the city is just right. Never been a Cop mind you, but was a P.I. for many years, and a ride-a-long with the Cdn. Mounties in B.C. That's a few years back when I was with the Search and Rescue. Tata M8.

Bobby,

What's a Burtonwooder?

I've visited Hollister a few times --- a very nice little city --- although it's a whole bigger than my town --Auburn. You're right, almost anything is a whole lot nicer, and sweeter, than L.A. If ever there was a living sewer, it's the fine city of Los Angeles. I assume people like to visit L.A. because they've never been there but, once they've visited, most of them have had a belly full of the "City of Angels."

Like you, I've been on a bunch of ride-alongs -- twice with Merseyside police. The last time we were in Liverpool, I spent some time with several cops -- you know, a couple of cool ones in the local pub, and tell each other war stories and, of course, a bunch of lies. I tried to schedule another ride-along but the department was adamant -- NO RIDE-ALONGS. Something about insurance and responsibility.

My last ride-along was two years ago in a dinky little town in Texas. My cousin was the city manager when I visited so he managed to talk the department into a ride-along for me --- and him. It was kinda interesting that, as the city manager, he had never gone on a ride-along. The ride-along was truly interesting. It's a little town of about 9,000 people but the police officers were so busy they couldn't keep up with the calls -- and there were 12 radio cars patrolling. At the expense of sounding like a racist, which I am not, about half of the town are Mexicans. If you remember Mexicans from the time you spent in Hollister, it seems that every Male Mexican has a huge Macho problem. A misinterpreted look is all it takes for a fight to erupt. Anyway, those cops were really on-the-go for the whole 8 hour shift. It reminded me of my tour (7 years) in East L.A.

When we next head for Liverpool, I hope we can meet up with some of the Yo Liverpool crowd.

Take care, Amigo -- and Bobby, try to behave yourself.
