Thanks Ged
I've ascertained that it was near Garibaldi street off Netherfield Road and pictures exist of the front and rear of house numbers 2 and 4 of court No.1 taken on 9th April 1956 as they are about to be demolished. It would be very lucky to get the actual court, never mind the house you're after but sometimes it does happen, however, they will give you an idea of the general area and conditions. For other courts click on my site below and see the courts page.
Hello jodie.
Ged is right with his information, although it was called Eccles Lane not Eccles St. It was the last opening on the top left hand side of Roscommon St.
A very narrow Lane with housing on one side only, a large brick wall facing, Also a dead end, although there was a flight of narrow steps that led up to Abram St. there was only the one court,on the left hand side about half way down. Hope this helps!
How did you trip to the shewsy go today Samp. I was right by there last sat night and got some pics up on my site. Scroll to near bottom of the streets ahead page and the bottom of the high rise page.

A bit quite today, Ged. only two of use showed up.
Harry who showed up today, used to be a crane driver on the building sites. He has got some good photos taken from the top of the crane. He has given me permission to post them on the forum. He is not an expert but he has an eye for the unusual. I will post them up as soon as I can scan them in.

Jodie. As promised :)
These were taken in April 1956 by the city engineers dept to record them in their last throes as part of the Garibaldi street CPO clearance area.
They are of Eccles Street No.1 Court houses 2 & 4, front and rear.
130 photos including these will be added to various pages of my site from wednesday.

Well done Ged!
Thanks Samp. They are from the LRO whom anyone are entitled to as long for own use and not commercial gain so if you want to save them to your Shewsy archive, I assume that would be alright.

much appreciated Ged:thumbsup:
It's a pleasure jodie.
Samp, you can just right click these particular ones but if you go to the LRO armed with the street names you're looking for there's plenty more from around the area i'm sure.

Just go off the subject a minuet, have you seen the old pontack is up for sale!
Yes, that's a terrrible colour they painted it but at least it's still standing when all around it was demolished.
