Sorry Steve,
don't have any of the pic's you want,but I knew I had something related! This is from a Lord Mayor's parade in ??? showing the float assembled by those trying to to save the rink! Maybe you might recognise someone?

we plan to do an article on the Ice Rink for the next issue of the K&F Voice can I use this picture and also put it on our blog? The story will look at the history but also how a new ice rink could be an economic and socail engine of change
