Want to know more about a specific location? Dive right in -- Google Earth combines satellite imagery, maps and the power of Google Search to put the world's geographic information at your fingertips.

I love this, you can zoom from space right into selected major areas around the world! I found the hotel we stayed in, in Paris last year!

Have read reports (but not investigated or tried) that NASA do their own downloadable copy (i.e. no need for permanent internet connection). Do know how it fares though in comparison to Google Earth, which I have to say is awesome!

Unfortunately Liverpool isnt in detail :( But Manchester is, hmm I wonder what criteria they looked at when prioritising areas for greater detail.

Try the Grand Canyon, thats impressive so is New York!

It got my street but it was blurry. :(

I am now using it to aim laser beams at the BBC for lack of good sports. :D

D'you know, you guys are really p***ing me off...yep, I follow your instructions hoping to view the earth from afar...and what's the first thing that greets me? — "Apple Macintosh computers are not supported at this time (but we are working on it)" — patronising b******s.

Oh bloody super, fantastic, superbloodycalifragic, I'll get down on me knees and thank the Lord that you're thinking of me!

Perhaps you can get those morons at telewest to cater for us Mac users sometime in the not too distant future, grrr....

Anyway, I didn't want to see our 'ouse anyway-I know what the bloody roof looks like!

mutter, mutter, mutter, smug sods.... :D :D

(picks up ball and goes home)

an' I'm glad it's all blurry, so there!

I looked at Google Earth a while back, but couldn't do much with it. I only managed to see one decent image of Buenos Aires ( I have a friend there !)
... but couldn't get anything else. Things were just a blur and the computer kept freezing. I had to uninstall it before it killed my pc !

I keep hearing about all the fantastic images people have seen - it was a nonstarter for me.

I read it:

Only me,

I done an overlay a few years back in Google earth of Liverpool in 1903, to be specific its more south and takes in runcorn etc.

If your not used to google earth...you can fade the overlay in and out on the left with the slider bar....to see a " Then and Now " type thing.

It has slightly moved out of alignment since I placed it, the new google terrain is a bit off from what it was....I might re-align it if I get a chance....but you'll get the general idea.

click the view in google earth link and it will download the image to your comp and open up google earth.

I done a previous one of the docks from 1868 but thats well out of alignment now, I will redo asap.

Yeah Kev, sound isn't it. I spent wayyyy too long fading in and out going " ooh look thats still there!" etc, but everyone had gone to bed. :disgust:

The later overlay I enjoyed cos I'm from that end of the City Woolton / Speke / Childwall. So I was well into spotting the changes.

There's loads of great overlays on the Google Earth Community

Try installing it again and turn off your firewall when you try to use it. If it works then turn your firewall back on and tweak it until you find what's killing it.

Enjoy (except if you're a mac user LOL!!) :unibrow:

Just been playing with the new Flight Sim on Google Earth. Its on the Tools menu. You need the latest version I think.

You can choose between 2 planes a slow one and a mega fast jet.

Managed to crash them both :PDT_Xtremez_42:
