Thanks Taffy! I enjoyed the photo's, I used to visit the pub in the early 'fifties' to get to it you had to operate a 'swing' bridge over the canal. I thought that the pub was 'long gone'! glad to see it's still in existence. Cheers:PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Glad you and Max liked the photos. The swing bridge is now a permanent one but you still have to run the gauntlet of the unmanned railway level crossing. The pub has been flooded several times by the River Mersey which looked quite docile on the day I visited.

Nice pictures Taffy!

If you see a bloke called Tommy the Tug down there, ask him when is he going to finish his bloody boat!

Thanks for the update Taffy, I really thought all that area had been demolished when they built the power station, glad to see the old pub still survives! I had an old army mate who lived in Sankey, and he and I used to visit the pub on a few saturday nights, good sessions there way back around 1952-55!!! Ah! those were the days!!!!:PDT_Xtremez_12:

A Panoramic, covering the area from North Wales to Altrincham, including the Mersey, Runcorn, Widnes, Fiddlers Ferry and te surrounding countryside.

This was taken from Frodsham Hill......

Thanks for that panoramic Corky - it brings back memories of the
annual trip of Fonthill Road Elementary to Frodsham Hill in the 30's. I can't
remember what its precise purpose was - perhaps just to give some little
"townie" kids a breath of something like open countryside. What I do still
vividly remember was that we spent a fair portion of our brief stay there
going down the helter-skelter. Is it still there? I would love to see a pic of it
if it is. Thanks again Stan H.
