Technical Problems?!

Hi folks,

I'm not sure how things are your end but I've found it extremely difficult to access the site for several hours now.

I'd appreciate some feedback if you have not been effected by this, maybe you have, let me know.

In the mean time I've been trying to figure out whats happened/ been happening and I'm exhausted.

The Shoutbox has been taken down to try and lighten the load but its something that is effecting the whole of the server [where my other sites are too].

Please be patient, I hope you can read this. Apologese if you have logged on and not noticed a thing.

I'd appreciate if you could note the time of any issues.

For example..

10pm - Forum extremely slow.

23:14 Kev, it took over 2 Min's to get to the main forum then 30 seconds to access this post, as you say the site is very slow tonight.

it is 04.25 hours now.
Finally forum is working as it is suppose to be.

Earlier ,it was same issue with my end as well.It was very slow..

Hello Kev - everything working as it should this morning, but loads of
problems yesterday afternoon and evening. No response at all at first - tried
three different browsers, all the same, nothing. Then later last evenlng
gradual return but still far from normal. Packed it in and went to sleep on it.
Perfect now.
Something similar has happened to me several times recently. Now I'm
gradually learning not to fear the worst but just close the computer down and try again several hours later - or next day.

Hi Stan,

I was up the wall yesterday, panic hit as I thought we were being hacked etc.

I reckon the site was hit with lots of spam 'spiders', thousands of them searching the site.

I've reduced the chance of that happening again...touch wood.

Spiders are good but too many of the little beasties could slow down the forum. All seems ok now though.

Hopefully the bad ones will be filtered out from now on....

I'm praying that spiders were the issue and not something esle.

So....it happened again, sorry about that.

I've got to try a few things out.

At the moment, I've disabled a large feature that might have an impact.
