I worked in the labs at BAT about 1960-1963

We used to get an allowance of 60 Ardath cigs/week (50 for the ladies)

One thing sticks in my mind after all these years was the toilet notices:-

Staff - ladies and gents

Shop Floor - Men and Women!!!!!

Also Staff were not searched - yet shop floor were regularly randomly searched

Furthermore - canteens:-

1 for shop floor
1 for staff
1 for foremen/supervisors
1 for junior managers
1 for senior managers/directors
Waitress service for the latter two

Happy days!!

My father-in-law worked there. Claimed to be the first out to the Union pub when the hooter sounded. My mother-in-law worked along the street in Tillotsons. Both still live in Kirkdale in the flower streets.
