Where is this?
This is Stanlow, as seen from the Boat Museum near Ellesmere Port. The waters are actually Mancester Ship Canal. Other views from this very spot include Liverpools city structures, Runcorn Bridge and JLA.
I have other reasons or photographing this - Basically an OMD Theme (Stanlow was an early OMD song. It was a symbol that they were home, and was a spectacle when lit up at night, after returning from touring)
Finding a good place for night shots though is difficult, especially now the central road through the complex is closed to traffic midway through now (and the keenness to catch people trying). But night shots are stunning when caught right. I plan to try this week!

Great photo's everyone.
This is the interior of the Anglican Cathedral taken across main transept (bit of an odd angle 'cause I had to stick the camera through a gap in the stonework) :)

Thanks GD, must have been on all of those boats (ships) at one time or another.
Why were the Irish ferries always called boats and not ships?

Yep. A multi-floor car park right on the quays. Good thinking eh! The buildings that are to go on vacant sites on the quays are put back because of the Credit Crunch.

Hi gregs dad,
I think with the rest of St. Michael's-in-the-Hamlet this is a bit of got-up early nineteenth century medievalism rather than being authentically from the Middle Ages. Just like the supposed castle that stood in "Cain's Fields" mentioned (and illustrated) in Robert Griffiths' 1907 History of the Royal and Ancient Park of Toxteth, which the author labels a landowner's folly and not the real deal. The cross is not mentioned by Griffiths and if it had been authentically centuries-old when he wrote his history, I would have expected him to mention it.
All the best
Chris
