took this picture just as the morning was dawning upon the Nile, the scene is timeless as the ferryman rows his passengers across to Edfu in dawns pale light.

I can feel the heat. The Nile from the air is amazing. A barren landscape of yellowish sand and a thin strip of green to the horizon. Then look closer and in the green strip has strip of blue in it - the water.

I took this picture 45 minutes prior to taking the one above,I thought it was so "Moody",it was taken at the beginning of Ramadan and that little light to the left of the sun is Venus the morning star.

Apologies to others for going off topic.
Brian,
Looks like we've lost our sailors home. If you're in contact with any of our shipmates they (and you) might be interested in this:

Abu Simbel, that monument to Rameses the Great,he of the Exodus. In the morning light it looks so magnificent that you can only look and wonder. What monuments of our time will last as long? And don't ask who the woman is ,I never noticed her until I got home!
