This is a sunset down at our holiday home, it's a sunset and its at the sea side so I'm spoilt for choice as to which of the three threads it would fit into.

Thanks Carole.....we stayed on that island last year....the little jetty you see is where the boat drops you when you reach it from the mainland

Silver Sun
Calm silver sun setting over the deep waters
Reflection on the dark water almost blinding
Peaceful tranquillity in the still evening air
Birds getting the last few bites before bed
Gentle breeze chilling as it comes ashore
Mist clinging to the reed beds slowly soaking
Cotton clouds in blue sky getting ever cooler
Restful nights sleep could be on the cards

Can I ask how you got that great starburst sort of effect in the second great picture? Very very good.

Quite simple really - I just used spot focus, and focussed automaically on the sun itself by holding the trigger midway. Once the camera had adjusted This is the result. Theres no trickery involved at all.
Some cameras are better than others for this though - My previous Fuji just presented a ball of light!
Because my camera seems to take great sunlight shots, I really took off on 'silouhettes' using the sun as a focal point to silouhette the rest of the shot.

From December in Sefton Park, winter sunrises are best. I like Sunsets in winter too even though they are too early during November an such, the rivers and lakes are much stiller than in the Summer as the winds are mostly just cold and light.
My mood messes up when the daylight changes throughout the seasons though.:PDT10

Simple, a starburst filter on the lense, you can achieve a host of different effects just by placing a certain filter over the lense.

Honestly, no trickery, photoshop stuffery or filters/lenses - the camera just handles them, which I'm really grateful for!
