Cain's brewery has gone into administration. I hear that Marston's might buy it.

From what I learned on our tour of the brewery it has changed hands numerous times since it was first established and hopefully a buyer can be found that will keep the much needed jobs safe in Liverpool.

My vertigo won't allow me to walk over that.
I tried once, and I just couldn't.
Mind you, I did pick the worst time of day.

Thanks Philip.

I took a whole host of these pics from different angles as, as kids, we used to ride our bikes over that and the swirly slopes at both ends made for dizzy evil kineval stunts :)

I never realised it dipped so much in the middle.

Next time we're in town i'll accompany you as there are some good photo opportunities up Hunter St and Scottie.

Greg's dad captured my mate and I watching LFC's homecoming in 1977 from it.

That's right Marky.

I went up there to photograph the Man utd supporters getting escorted down scottie and a policeman who was up there to obviously stop anyone getting up there and throwing things down at them told me to stand at the end and take it which was fair enough.

Was that the homecoming where Emlyn Hughes claimed Liverpool were magic and Everton were tragic? Did you throw a few stones at him Ged? :unibrow:

Ged
09-03-2008, 03:09 PM
Yes, he had to apologise for that as there were loads of blues there to see the first European cup homecoming. It's a wonder i'm not a red because when Lfc came back with the Uefa cup - I think 73 or 76 - one of them. The civic reception was in the Walker Art Gallery in the evening and with my dad working there I got to lift the big vase and meet Shankly and Keegan and all.

I was at the 74 homecoming that Greg's dad captured too, along with my blue mates.

Those tenements behind on the pic were where we lived so it was a lcoal event and if anything, the bloody crowds in William Brown st meant we couldn't play by the fountain or in St. John's gardens that evening, so it was natural to get in there and see what was going on.

a good pic and the colours are lovely.

Thanks LL and Taffy.
The colours come from the big screen.
It acts a bit like a torch.
The colours change depending on which of the same boring 3 adverts are on.
Anyway, it makes for more interesting night photos!
(Not bad for a 'hand-held' shot).

Great photos fellas :handclap::handclap:
I remember when I was a child in Liverpool, all the streets had those 'setts, and they were murder to walk on. My mum had Infantile paralysis as a child (Now known as Polio) and always had a limp as a result. She took many a tumble on the setts, especially after heavy rain or in snow and frost. Lethal they were! I realise the ones at Albert Dock are new, but they still bring back memories.
The Port of Liverpool building looks great...positively sparkling in the sunlight :)

Anita, that's excellent.
I love the way you've got "Empire Theatre".
Practically all my results were very disappointing,
and I couldn't manage to find a decent 'Spec'.
But I was there, and it was wonderful. :handclap:

Thanks PhilipG, LL and Klaatu.
You're right Philip it was a tricky one to shoot with either poor light or brilliant flashes. I climbed up on a wall to get over peoples heads. Noticed Phil Redmond opposite me had his own fenced off corner by St Georges Hall to watch the proceedings. I really enjoyed it, but thought that Saturday was breathtaking, because La Princess stepped over me in Lord Street. (LL sorry, it'll be over soon) :)
