This is brilliant stuff. I'll be seeing if me mum wants to come along to it before getting my tickets.
It'll be the 1st time in years that I can get to Wimbledon too, since theres no Glastonbury this year!
WITH walkie talkie in hand and neck craned up to the sky, Alan Mills refereed Wimbledon for 23 years. Yesterday, he was back home on Merseyside to promote the region's own major tennis tournament. more (http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100regionalnews/tm_objectid=16786785%26method=full%26siteid=50061% 26headline=ex%2dwimbledon%2dofficial%2dto%2doverse e%2dcity%2dtennis%2devent-name_page.html)

Liverpool Tennis Tourn is..... the only British tournament other than Wimbledon to stage both an Association of Tennis Players (ATP) and a Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournament.
Went with my mum on the Saturday and loved it.
Shes on about coming up here for the full tournament next year!
Blessed by the weather as well!

Paul D 06-20-2006, 03:00 PM As Borg is well aware, no other tournament in Britain is able to provide so much variety and happily the business world is starting to support it, as well as a highly sports conscious city council.
If Borg has his way, Liverpool will be a place where tennis is able to develop as a highly popular and successful enterprise.:PDT_Aliboronz_24:

It should only be a matter of time until Calderstones sees a proper Wimbledon style centre court with permanent seats etc...
Oh I'd really love that to happen you never know.
Runs from 12th to 17th June 2007, tickets already available. Legend Bjorn Borg confirmed as appearing with modern day players to be confirmed in March.
Brilliant, give it 10 years and we'll have a small tennis stadium (ie like Wimbledon Centre Court) at Calderstones. I bet there are plans already :handclap:
Paul D 01-11-2007, 06:55 PM Granada news said this is the second biggest tournament in Britain after Wimbledon, this has come a long way in six years.:celb (23):
lindylou 01-11-2007, 07:19 PM I'm made up about this even though I don't follow tennis.

What it needs now is a major TV deal, as the coverage of it has been abysmal in recent years.
