LIVERPOOL is enjoying Britain's most exciting urban renaissance since Victorian times, the former Minister for Merseyside declared last night.



Visiting the city yesterday, Michael Heseltine said it had been transformed dramatically since the troubled times when he was charged with turning round its fortunes exactly 25 years ago.



And he insisted the recent collapse of major projects such as the trams scheme were merely the hazards of entrepreneurship.

Michael Heseltine is about the only Conservative I have time for – I would gladly shake his hand - but the rest can bugger off.
