Lark Lane, in the pleasant South Liverpool suburb of Aigburth, is a 'trendy' place, cosmopolitan and bohemian at the same time. It is situated on the edge of Sefton Park, a large, famous, Victorian heritage, and is well known as having a 'villagy' atmosphere.

Situated in a region noted for its timber-framed buildings, Speke Hall is considered one of the most outstanding examples of its kind. Its present form dates from the period 1490-1612, but there was an earlier house on or near the site of the present building.

The International Garden Festival was a festival held in Liverpool from 2 May 1984 to 14 October 1984. I went back in 2006 for a closer look. It is now a hive of activity as preparations are underway for a massive regeneration scheme. You can check out development progress by clicking here.

Antony Gormley's Another Place is a piece of modern sculpture currently erected on Crosby Beach. The sculpture consists of 100 cast iron figures which face out to sea, spread over a 2 mile (3.2 km) stretch of the beach. Each figure is 189 cm tall (nearly 6 feet 2½ inches) and weighs around 650 kg (over 1400 lb). Further along from Crosby Beach you will find the tranquil Formby Beach with its long sandy beaches and attractive pine woods.

LiverpoolWaterfront

waterfront

At the heart of this new World Heritage Site is the world-famous Liverpool waterfront.

During the 19th and early 20th-centuries Britain was a true world power, and Liverpool was her pre-eminent commercial port. The buildings and structures shown in these photographs reflect that mercantile might. The grand docks, offices, banks, exchanges, warehouses and cultural buildings demonstrate Liverpool’s global importance.
